All India Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee has handed suspensions and fines to multiple players and an official of Mumbai City FC for their part in a scuffle with members of Atletico de Kolkata during the semi-final of the Indian Super League on December 13.
The franchise was also fined Rs 5 Lakh for failing to control its players and officials. The committee suspended player Thiago Dos Santos Cunha for four matches and fined him Rs 3 lakh. Facundo Cardozo was suspended for three matches, but escaped a fine.
Meanwhile, official Bhushan Tandel was suspended for five matches and fined Rs 2 lakh.
The committee had earlier fined Atletico de Kolkata Rs 7 lakh and had suspended player Juan Belencoso for two matches with Rs 3 lakh fine for the same incident.
The incident occurred after the final whistle during the semi-final 2nd Leg at Mumbai Football Arena. An altercation occurred between Belencoso and Mumbai’s Leo Costa. Costa clipped Belencoso with the latter then having a go at the midfielder with his head, prompting angry reactions from both sides.
