This was the fourth match of the Big Bash League with Hobart Hurricanes playing against Sydney Sixers at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The Hurricanes, sent into bat, blasted 200/6 and the Sixers were never in the contest, losing quick wickets.
Pacer Shaun Tait may have had a premature end to his Australia career, but in the shortest format of the game he can be a real handful. And, he showed why. Not many can can dig out a yorker that zips in at 150 km/h.
With the Sixers’ fate all but sealed in the contest, Tait delivered the final nail in the coffin by cleaning up England’s Sam Billings, who was playing a fighting knock.
This delivery was recorded at 148 km/h and broke the stumps – such was the impact. There was a delay in proceedings too, as a stump was broken in half. Cricket needs more bowlers who possess raw pace. Tait showed why, not long ago, he was one of the most feared customers in the world.
