A 17-year-old girl was shot dead in Delhi’s Najafgarh on Tuesday evening, ANI reported. The accused, who was in the car with her, fled from the scene. Officials said his family is absconding too.

The girl’s mother told the police that her daughter had gone out with friends and that she saw her arrive in a car with two occupants. Soon after, she heard a gunshot after one of the occupants, her daughter’s friend, came out from the car. The girl’s mother said the boy in the car had run away by the time she reached the site and found her daughter lying in pool of blood.

The murder weapon has been found, officials said.
