Leander Paes will commence his 2017 season at the Chennai Open, partnering Andre Sa of Brazil according to a report published in the Hindu. It will be the 43-year-old’s 26th year on the ATP Tour.
Though the 59th ranked Paes didn’t win any men’s doubles titles in 2016, he did well at the Chennai Open. Paes and his Spanish partner, Marcel Granollers reached the quarter-finals, though they had to pull-out before the match on account of Granollers taking ill. The duo gave a walkover to the French-American team of Benoit Paire and Austin Krajicek.
The 2017 Chennai Open will be held from January 2 to 8, with World No. 6 Marin Cilic as the top-seed.
