OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei on Friday expressed his surprise on finding an advertisement on Flipkart announcing the sale of the Chinese smartphone company’s OnePlus3 on the e-commerce website. The firm sells its handsets exclusively through Amazon India.
“Brother, what’s this? We’re exclusive with Amazon,” Pei tweeted to Flipkart Co-founder and Executive Chairman Sachin Bansal. The e-tailer had a banner advertisement on its website that said OnePlus3 smartphones will be available on Flipkart during its upcoming sale at a heavily discounted price. Neither Flipkart nor Bansal have replied to Pei’s tweet yet.
While OnePlus3 is available on Amazon at a cost of Rs 27,999, the Flipkart advertisement indicated an offer below Rs 20,000. However, on clicking the banner ad, the smartphone appears to be priced the same as on Amazon. The under-Rs 20,000 figure could be after cashback offers and exchange discounts, according to NDTV.
