PV Sindhu lost 15-21, 17-21 to China’s Sun Yu in her second group game in the Dubai World Superseries Finals on Thursday.
The Olympic silver medallist looked jaded as Sun Yu dominated from the off-set in the opening game. She took an early lead and maintained her advantage through the game. Sindhu tried to push for a comeback after the change of ends, but could break Yu’s defence.
In the second, Sindhu produced a far better approach and kept the scores level till 17-17. But Yu closed out the game confidently with four straight points to take the win.
The Indian faces Carolina Marin next.
