Unidentified gunmen on Thursday looted a bank in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district and fled with around Rs 11 lakh. The incident took place at the Ratnipora branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank. Four people were involved in the crime. The police have yet to confirm the amount taken from the bank.
”They looted around Rs 11 lakh at gunpoint from the cash counter. A manhunt has been launched to nab the robbers,” a police officer told IANS. This is the third bank that has been robbed in the region since Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were demonetised by the Centre on November 8. On November 22, suspected militants had robbed a bank in Malpora district and fled with Rs 13 lakh of which Rs 11 lakh was in demonetised notes.
