The Indian Army has arrested a former Pakistani officer who was trying to breach the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district. The man was reportedly trying to infiltrate into the Indian side through a cross-border underground tunnel in Ramgarh sector, reported The Indian Express.
Border Security Force personnel foiled the infiltration bid and took the man into custody on Tuesday. Mohammad Baksh, a resident of Sialkot, reportedly admitted that he had retired from the Pakistani Army. The man had on him two identity cards, two Pakistani currency notes of Rs 500 each, a small knife and a paper with “CMA Lahore Cantt” written on it.
“Late last evening, alert BSF troops noticed suspicious movement on Pakistani side near the fence in Ramgarh Sector and they fired a few rounds,” a senior BSF officer told NDTV. He said the BSF men later noticed suspicious movement near the fence of the International Border, and started firing to deter the intruder. He eventually surrendered and was arrested by security personnel.
