World Bronze-medallist Shiva Thapa cruised to victory in the lightweight (60kg) National Championship gold medal match on Tuesday, PTI reported.
Shiva, who was head-butted in the quarter-final, fought with a bruised forehead. Despite the injury, He outplayed Ankush Dahiya, a Asian Youth silver-medallist, 5-0.
Thapa’s win sealed Assam’s solitary gold at the meet.
Meanwhile, Commonwealth Games silver-medallist L Devendro Singh (52kg) had to settle for silver medal Devendro, a two-time Olympian, lost 0-5 to youngster Deepak Singh, who was competing in his maiden National Championships.
