India’s Harmanpreet Kaur has begun her Women’s Big Bash League career with a bang. The Indian women’s team’s Twenty20 International captain, on Tuesday, powered her team Sydney Thunders to an eight-wicket win over Melbourne Stars with an inspiring all-around performance.
Kaur took 4/27 with the ball and then hit a quick-fire unbeaten 30 off 21 balls to win the “Player of the Match” award in her second match of the league. The Sixers were chasing 117 for a win after Melbourne won the toss and opted to bat first.
Kaur’s first victim was Jess Cameron (36) followed by Lily Bardsley (2) and Katie Mack (0). Finally, she got the wicket of Danielle Hazelle (5) in the final over. The Sixers chased the target down in 18.5 overs with Kaur coming in at No. 4 with 39 runs still needed off 39 balls. She hit 30 in 21 balls, with three sixes and two fours.
