Indian Test captain Virat Kohli scored his third double century this year in Tests. With this he became the first Indian captain to score three double centuries in a calendar year. His earlier double centuries in 2016 were against West Indies in June-July and New Zealand in October.
The 28-year-old resumed the day on Sunday with an unbeaten 147. He went into lunch on 212 runs. In partnership, Jayant Yadav too scored 92 runs before the end of the session.
On Saturday, Kohli had become the first Indian batsman to cross the 1,000-run mark this 2016. India scored 128 in the first session on Day Four of the fourth Test against England. At lunch, India are 579/9, leading England by 179 runs.
