Parupalli Kashyap’s dream run in the Korea Open came to an end against local favourite Son Wan Ho in the semi-final of the Korea Open in Seoul on Saturday, losing 21-23, 16-21 in a 49-minute battle.
It was the Indian who set the pace early in the contest, getting to a 5-1 lead but Son levelled scores for the first time at 15-15. Kashyap continued to take the upper hand in the contest by getting to a 18-16 lead but Son took three straight points to win the first game.
It was Son who took the early lead in the second game at 4-1 but Kashyap wrestled back advantage. From being 12-10 up, the Hyderabad shuttler had no reply to the Korean’s onslaught, and crashed to a defeat.
