There were ugly scenes from a press conference ahead of the much awaited bout between Dereck Chisora and Dillian Whyte – the duo will face off for the British heavyweight belt.
In a joint media conference, a huge melee kicked off as an incensed Chisora picked up a table in front of him and flung it in the direction of his rival, who currently possesses the belt.
The British Boxing Board of Control slammed the 33-year-old for bringing the “sport to disrepute”, “The Board considered the matter with great care and concern. Mr Chisora’s previous record, which is not good, was considered, as was a letter written to him, his opponent Dillian Whyte, his manager and the promoters by the General Secretary of the Board, dated the 16th November 2016, warning them that they should not misbehave and bring the Sport of boxing into disrepute prior to the contest,” a BBC statement read.
Chisora has also been fined £30,000 for creating one of the most un-sportsmanlike moments in recent times.
