An earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of California on Thursday morning, The Independent reported. The United States Geological Survey said the epicentre of the tremor, which struck at around 6.50 am (local time), was 165-kilometres west of the city of Ferndale in the state.
However, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center of the country’s National Weather Service said it had not issued any warning after the quake. This is the third tremor this week to have hit the region, with the previous ones being recorded above 4.0 on the Richter scale.
