AFC Cup 2016 runners-up Bengaluru FC will lock horns against Jordan’s Al Wehdat in the AFC Champions League Preliminary Stage 2 as they start their continental campaign on January 31.
Bengaluru’s progress to the second stage was made easy by an improved Member Association (MA) ranking for India. A win against Al Wehdat will take Bengaluru to the group stages of the competition.
The winner of the tie will meet UAE’s Al Wahda in the play-off stage, which will be played on February 7.
Defeat against either teams would relegate Albert Roca’s side to the group stages of the AFC Cup, where they had a dream run this past season.
Bengaluru face a tricky contest against Al Wehdat, who recently won the Jordan League for the third straight year.
