India’s Pankaj Advani progressed into the quarterfinals of the 2016 IBSF World Billiards Championship in Bengaluru on Wednesday after defeating compatriot Alok Kumar with a score of 750 points against 547 in the last-16 match of the Long-Up format, PTI reported.
Alok took the fight to Advani early into the game with a break of 99 points in only the second visit. He soon took a lead of 200 points over his opponents with two other breaks of 69 each in his third and fourth visit.
Advani though showed his experience and wrested back the edge. In his fifth visit Advani roared back into the game piling on 130 points with a 100-point break. He followed it up with another break of 157 points. Advani soon closed the game leaving little room for Alok to stage a comeback.
Advani next faces compatriot and current national champion Sourav Kothari, who beat Jaiveer Dhingra 750 against 432 to reach the last-eight stage.
