Champions League football invariably brings out the best in a team, owing to the calibre and the class of the opposition. On Wednesday night, goals were a common sight as Barcelona, Arsenal and Dynamo Kyiv ran riot scoring a total of 14 goals against their hapless opponents.
Arda Turan hits hat-trick
Barcelona were back to their mesmerising best as they beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 4-0. Lionel Messi was the usual culprit who scored the first goal. However, after that it was the Arda Turan show and he scored a hat-trick to complete a 4-0 rout.
Arsenal smash four past Basel
Arsenal had a good day at the office as well, winning 4-1 against Basel. Lucas Perez scored a fine hat-trick for the Gunners as they were clinical in their approach. Alex Iwobi scored the fourth with Seydou Doumbia pulling one back for the Swiss side.
Lewandowski powers Bayern
Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern Munich a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid as both teams qualified for the knockout stage. Bayern have now won all 15 of their Champions League games at home. It was also Atlético’s first loss of the group stage.
Dynamo smash six
Dynamo Kyiv smashed six goals past Besiktas on Wednesday. Goals from Artem Biesiedin, Andriy Yarmolenko, Vitaly Buyalsky, Derlis Gonzalez, Serhiy Sydorchuk and Junior Moraes were on target as Besiktas were clearly not present on the pitch mentally.
