Two soldiers of the Assam Rifles have died and seven others have been injured after suspected militants ambushed a convoy in Wakka, Longding district, Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday. Six of the soldiers are in critical condition, according to The Indian Express. The militants are suspected to be from the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang). The place of the attack is around 20 km from India’s border with Myanmar.
Security forces began a massive combing operation after the attack, but no arrests were made regarding the incident. The NSCN(K), along with other militant groups, have camps across the border in Myanmar. Unconfirmed reports said the United Liberation Front of Assam was also involved in the attack, PTI added.
Two weeks ago, three soldiers were killed in Assam when ULFA and NSCN(K) men ambushed an Army convoy, triggering an encounter between militants and the security forces.
