Formula One champion Nico Rosberg announced his retirement on Friday, barely five days after beating Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton to win his maiden world title.
The German made his debut in the big league in the 2006 season but enjoyed his best years in recent seasons. The 31-year-old had also signed on with Mercedes to stay till 2018.
En route to winning the drivers’ championship, Rosberg became the fourth driver in history to win the Monaco Grand Prix three times in a row and only the fourth driver in history to win 7 Grands Prix in a row.
