The Bangladesh Premier League never stops short of providing controversies and a blow-up between Sabbir Rahman and Mohammad Shahzad nearly threatened to turn into a shoving match during an encounter between Rangpur Riders and Rajshahi Kings.
The spotlight was recently on Rahman after the Bangladesh Cricket Board fined him $15,000 for an “off-field breach of conduct”. Teammate Al-Amin Hossain was also reprimanded by the board, who did not disclose what the players were penalised for, though.
Rahman has been one of the most consistent performers in the Bangladeshi side, coinciding with remarkable ascendancy in world cricket over the last 18 months. This incident reflects poorly on the hard-hitting young batsman, who nearly ended up swinging the bat on Shahzad. The umpires intervened to separate the players.
