Australia came back from a goal behind thrice to defeat India 4-3 in Bendigo, Victoria on Wednesday to level the two-match series 1-1. Kookaburras defender Jeremy Hayward scored a double, including a winner from a penalty corner.
It was India who started the goal rush with a sixth minute strike from Akashdeep Singh. Australia came back with Trent Mitton leveling scores to make it 1-1. Skipper VK Raghunath converted a penalty corner with little fuss to put India back in the lead but Australia hit back immediately to make it 2-2 through Jake Whetton.
With five minutes left for half-time, Raghunath put India back in the lead once again from a penalty corner. Australia game out guns blazing in the second half and made it 3-3 with a penalty corner of their own with Hayward finding the net. Hayward repeated the feat minutes later, which would go on to be the decisive game in the match.
