The Bharatiya Janta Party has appointed new chiefs for its units in Delhi and Bihar. While Manoj Tiwari (pictured above) will head the saffron party in the Capital, Nityanand Rai will oversee party functions in Bihar, PTI reported.
Tiwari took over from Satish Upadhyay, and Rai replaced Mangal Pandey. Tiwari is a party legislator from North East Delhi. He is a Bhojpuri actor who holds significant sway among migrant labourers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Nityanand Rai is a Yadav, which is the community perceived as the Rashtriya Janata Dal vote bank. His appointment as the Bihar unit chief is seen as the party’s effort to tap into the community.
