India’s Pankaj Advani on Monday assured India a medal after progressing to the semifinals of the World Snooker Championship in Doha, PTI reported.
Advani beat Thailand’s Thanawat Tirapongpaiboon 6-5 in an exciting quarterfinal clash to advance.
The Indian ace seemed in complete control early on, but the Thai rallied back to level the scores at 5-5.
In the decider, the fight was intense with the match coming down to the last black ball. Advani kept his cool to enter the semifinals. Advani will face Andrew Pagett of Wales in the semifinal later on Monday.
