The Indian women’s hockey team lost their third Test match against Australia 3-1 on Sunday. In the process, they lost the three-match series 2-1.
On Sunday, India were the better team in the first two quarters of the match. Vandana Katariya scored in the 17th minute to gain the upper hand. They were resolute on the defence not letting a single Australian player pass.
However, after the second half began, Australia showed their pedigree as they dismantled the Indian defence scoring two goals in the third quarter. Brooke Peris and Gabi Nance were on target as the Indians blew their one-goal lead.
Jordyn Holzberger added the third during the dying minutes of the game as India lost the match. India had beaten Australia in the first Test 1-0, then lost the second 4-1 to make Sunday’s match a winner takes all encounter.
