India’s PV Sindhu defeated Ngan Yi Cheung 21-14, 21-16 at the Hong Kong Open semi-final on Saturday. She will now face Taiwan’s Tai Tzu-ying in the final on Sunday.
After some initial hiccups, Sindhu was at her very best and never lost a chance to score. She led the first game match and was way ahead of her opponent. In the second game, however, Cheung posed a stiff challenge. The score line was 11-10 in favour of Sindhu. The Indian then managed to turn the game and continued with her winning momentum.
Earlier in the day, India’s Sameer Verma defeated world No. 3 Jan O Jorgensen 21-19, 24-22 to enter the finals in the men’s category.
