Bollywood film Pink, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, has been invited by the United Nations for a special screening at its headquarters in New York. Bachchan, who made the announcement via his Twitter account, said he was “honoured” by the invitation, which was reportedly issued by the world body’s assistant secretary-general.
The film, directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury, also stars Taapsee Pannu, Andrea Tariang, Kirti Kulhari and Angad Bedi. It deals with sexual violence, rape culture and male privilege through the story of three women who stand trial on accusations of defamation and assault. Released on September 16, the movie was praised for its acting and storyline.
