India’s PV Sindhu broke into the top 10 in the latest Badminton World Federation’s World Rankings on the back of her maiden Super Series title at the China Open. The rankings also saw Sindhu overtake compatriot Saina Nehwal in the world rankings for the first time ever.
Nehwal, who is on the comeback trail after recovering from injury, slipped five places to 11th owing to her first round exit at China Open. Sindhu, who won the event, claimed two places to grab the ninth spot. In the men’s category, Ajay Jayaram jumped four places to take the 19th spot, while HS Prannoy improved two spots to climb to 25th place.
Kidambi Srikanth, who skipped the China Open, remained the India’s top-ranked men’s shuttler at 12th spot.
