The Indian women’s cricket team will participate in the Asia Cup beginning in Bangkok on Thursday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed. The BCCI, though, did not specify whether India will play against arch-rivals Pakistan in the tournament. India are scheduled to face Pakistan on November 29 after their tournament opener against hosts Thailand on Sunday.
“As of now, the Indian team will take part in the Asia Cup. But can’t tell you whether India will play Pakistan or not,” BCCI joint secretary Amitabh Choudhary was quoted as saying by PTI. The International Cricket Council had docked six points from India as a penalty for not playing Pakistan in three scheduled matches between August 1 to October 31. The move had not gone down well with the BCCI.
