The top 10 goals selected for the annual FIFA Puskas Award 2016 were revealed last week. Named after the Hungarian great to select the most aesthetically significant goal of the year, it is, ironically, an award which has not featured in Lionel Messi’s trophy cabinet till date.
The Argentina and Barcelona striker will fancy his chances this time round. However, he has stiff competition from the likes of teammate Neymar and eight other players, who have scored some spectacular goals.
Messi has been nominated for a curling, left-footed free kick in the Copa America Centenario semi-final game against United States in June. Neymar’s goal came against Villarreal.
FIFA allows online vote to choose the best goal till December 2. A second round of voting, from a shortlist of three, will decide the winner at FIFA’s annual awards ceremony in Zurich on January 9.
Which is your pick?

Neymar: Barcelona vs Villarreal
Saúl Ñíguez: Atlético Madrid vs Bayern Munich
Hal Robson-Kanu: Wales vs Belgium
