Spanish state prosecutors investigating Neymar’s initial transfer to Barcelona have asked for the player to receive a two-year prison sentence, Football Espana reported.
The charges relate to a fraud case against Neymar and his father relating to his transfer to Barcelona from Santos for a reported sum of €48m in 2013.
The prosecutors have also asked that Barcelona be fined €10m for their involvement in the deal.
The case was initiated by Brazilian investment group DIS — which owned 40% of Neymar’s sporting rights when he completed his transfer — complained that they had received less money than they should have done because part of the fee was concealed.
The case had initially been closed, but was re-opened in September.
