Parhtiv Patel will finally get a chance to don his Test jersey after eight years. The wicketkeeper-batsman, who last played in an international match four years ago, earned a recall to India’s Test team, reported ESPNcricinfo. He comes in due to an injury to first-choice wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed that Saha “developed a strain in his left thigh” during the second Test against England in Vizag.
“As a precautionary measure, Saha has been advised rest and will not play in the next Test match of the series,” a press release said. The third Test will be played from November 26 in Mohali.
On Tuesday, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was recalled into India’s 16-member Test squad for the remaining three Tests against England. However, the selectors did not chose Gautam Gambhir in the squad.
