Four armed and masked men reportedly barged into a state-run bank in Jammu and Kashmir’s Malpora district on Monday and fled with Rs 13 lakh in cash. However, police believe nearly Rs 11 lakh out of the total amount consisted of the now-defunct Rs 500 and 1,000 notes, reported NDTV. A total of 12 people were reportedly present at the bank when the robbery took place, and nobody was injured.
Police officials suspect that militants may have been responsible for the heist, added the report. Police have taken cognisance of the incident and started investigations, reported PTI.
