The Indian cricket team ended Day 3 of the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam with a healthy lead of 298 runs.
The innings began with Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes at the crease, striking a 110-run partnership till Bairstow fell at 53 to a beautiful Umesh Yadav delivery. Ravichandran Ashwin’s 22nd five-wicket haul – his first against England – blocked England’s score at 255.
India began their second innings with a lead of 200, but got off to a shaky start. The squad was three wickets down at 40, before Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane turned the game around. The Indian Test captain scored yet another 50, with Rahane unbeaten at 22, to take India’s lead to 298 runs.
It is advantage India as they look to increase their lead on Day 4.
