The West Indies women’s team won the first of three T20 International matches against India at Vijayawada on Friday. India opted to bat first under new captain Harmanpreet Kaur as they set West Indies a target of 151. Kaur scored an unbeaten knock of 68 runs with Veda Krishnamurthy also making 50, taking India to 150 in 20 overs.
West Indies chased the target down with five balls to spare as skipper Stafanie Taylor took the match away with her 51-ball knock of 90 runs. The knock included 12 fours and three sixes. She missed out on a ton as India’s Shikha Pandey bowled her out. Pandey was the pick of the Indian bowlers grabbing three wickets for 31 runs.
India have a chance to make a comeback since this was the first of three T20Is.
