England held by Spain
England were held to 2-2 draw by Spain at the Wembley Stadium in a friendly on Tuesday. This was interim manager Gareth Southgate’s last game in charge. Adam Lallana scored in the ninth minute while Jamie Vardy doubled the lead after a 14-game drought. However, Spain’s Iago Aspas scored in the 90th minute with Isco equalising in the final seconds of the match to stun England.
Alexis Sanchez powers Chile
Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez scored twice as Chile beat Uruguay 3-1 in Santiago. Edinson Cavani drew first blood to give Uruguay the lead before Eduardo Vargas scored the equaliser. Then it was the Sanchez show as the striker scored two tremendous goals for the win.
Brazil record sixth straight away win
Brazil beat Peru 2-0 in a thrilling encounter in Lima. Brazil’s Gabriel Jesus scored one and assisted in the second as Renato Augusto slotted it home to double the lead. This was Brazil’s sixth successive win on the trot. Brazil’s win powered them to move four points clear atop the standings after 12 matches.
