The big news: Spain leave it late
England were stunned with two late goals from Spain as they drew 2-2 at the Wembley Stadium in a friendly on Tuesday. This was interim manager Gareth Southgate’s last game in charge.
England were on the scoreboard within the first ten minutes with Adam Lallana scoring from the spot as Jamie Vardy was fouled by Spain goalkeeper Pepe Reina. Vardy doubled the lead when the second half began with a superb header to make it 2-0. England were on course for a stunning victory until Iago Aspas’s strike gave Spain hope in the 90th minute. Five minutes into injury time, Isco scored the equaliser in the final seconds of the match which stunned England.

- Italy and Germany played out a goalless draw in Milan as both teams failed to stamp their authority on the game. Italy’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon kept another clean sheet for his European record-equalling 167th cap. Buffon drew level with Spain keeper Iker Casillas. He produced several routine saves before AC Milan teenager Gianluigi Donnarumma came on at the break.
- Argentina beat Colombia 3-0 in their World Cup qualifying campaign. It was the Lionel Messi show as the Barcelona forward scored a stunning free-kick before setting up Lucas Pratto for the second and Angel Di Maria for the third.
- Alexis Sanchez scored twice as Chile beat Uruguay 3-1 in their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign. Edinson Cavani had given Uruguay the lead before Eduardo Vargas netted the equaliser in the first half. Sanchez then scored two goals in the second for the win.
- Former Liverpool and England captain Steven Gerrard announced that he will leave Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy. Gerrard joined Galaxy in 2015 and scored five goals in 34 appearances in the two seasons in America. His contract expires next month.
- Hull City striker Will Keane has been ruled out for one year with knee ligament damage. Keane was injured during Hull’s win over Southampton on November 6 and has had a successful surgery. He joined Hull from Manchester United on August 30 and has made six appearances since then.
- Chennaiyin FC beat FC Pune City 2-0 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. Jeje Lalpekhlua and Davide Succi were on target as Chennai ended their five-match winless streak and also jumped to fifth spot on the table.
- FC Goa face Mumbai City FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda on Wednesday. Mumbai City FC suffered a surprise 1-0 loss in their last game to FC Pune City and will look to get their act together and once again regain the top spot.
