Indian grandmaster Viswanathan Anand clinched the 2016 Champions Showdown in St Louis, United States, on Monday. Anand finished with 15 points to edge past three other grandmasters – Hikaru Nakamura, who finished second, Fabiano Caruana (third) and Veselin Topalov (fourth), reported ESPN.in.
The tournament saw each competitor play 24 matches, including two classical round robins, two rapid round robins and four blitz round robins. Anand won seven and drew 16. His only defeat came on the final day against Nakamura.
