India will host the Asian Champions Trophy, the Youth Olympic Asian qualifiers, the men’s hockey World Cup and the International Hockey Federation Congress in 2018, newly elected FIH president Narindra Batra said on Tuesday.
India had won the right to host the World Cup in 2013 during a special ceremony in Switzerland. The 2018 men’s hockey World Cup is scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar from November 28 to December 16, reported The Times of India.
Batra also announced that the JSW Group will own the seventh franchise of the Hockey India League. The new team will be based in Bangalore and make its debut in 2018.
