“After the nuclear explosion, she has one scratch.”
Absurdity rules Indian television shows. In fact, the golden age of Indian television was an exposition of an “entire trend of nonsense”. Don’t take anyone’s word for it, just listen to what the stand-up comedian group East India Company has to say.
Listing the ludicrousness that passes off as TV shows, the four members compete with each other in unearthing the absurdities on the idiot box. For instance, this about the Colors show Naagin, which features shape-shifting snakes: “Sometimes the snake gets tired of crawling on the ground, so they created an innovative scene in which the snake takes an Uber.”
From Thapki Pyar Ki, where the heroine’s love interest is a gorilla, to Sasural Simar Ka, where a girl is transformed into a fly, nothing escapes their contempt.
