Within a short period of time, Bengaluru FC has become one of the most successful clubs in Indian football. The Blues (as they are nicknamed) have won the India’s premier football league, the I-League twice and the Federation Cup once in 2015. Founded by Jindal Steel Works in 2013, Bengaluru FC hired former Manchester United product Ashley Westwood as its first coach. In Sunil Chhetri, the captain of the Indian national team, they also found an able leader.
Within three years, they have reached the final of the AFC Cup where they lost to Air Force Club, Iraq 1-0 in the final. Even though the result was heart breaking, their rise has been exciting. Under new coach Albert Roca, the club can only reach greater heights and hopefully turn India into a footballing nation.
