Defending champions Cleveland Cavaliers were handed their first defeat of the season as the Atlanta Hawks powered to a 110-106 win over them in Cleveland. Dennis Schroder scored a career-high 28 points for the Hawks to power his side to a stunning win.
Cleveland were on a 6-0 winning streak, which finally came to an end with this defeat. Cleveland were down 96-81 in the fourth quarter before LeBron James tried to take control of the game to make it 106-103 with under 50 seconds left on the clock.
Paul Milsap scored for the Hawks to take the lead to five before Kent Bazemore scored the winner to put the game away. Bazemore scored 25 points while Millsap added 21. James late surge was a little too late as the Cleveland will need to regroup and assess their first loss this season.
