A number of videos made their way to the internet as the US Presidential elections gathered momentum. While Donald Trump was declared the winner late on Tuesday night (Wednesday afternoon in India), the trail leading to the victory was colourful, to say the least.

It culminated in a surprisingly restrained speech acknowledging the result (vode above).

Before that, though, one of the high points involved Trump's being booed on his way in and out of a polling station in New York (where his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton won).

As the Republican candidate stunned everyone – perhaps even those who voted for him – by securing major wins in Florida, Ohio, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, panic started to seep in among some Americans, who started googling, "How do I emigrate?"

The Canadian immigration website reportedly crashed amid the chaos.

The Trump clan, meanwhile, remained largely positive throughout and Ivanka Trump even shared a picture of the family watching the results together.

Earlier, talk show host Stephen Colbert posted an exclusive interview with Trump's wife Melania Trump, who spoke about election day. Viewers commented when a Clinton victory was still expected, saying things like: "This was funny before but now it's really sad."

Here's a video of everything Trump has said over the past 30 years or so.

And to finish things off nicely, here's a video with people in Washington reading actual quotes from their next president.
