Rock On!! 2 The three surviving members of the rock band Magik, first seen in Rock On!! (2008) reunite along with two new musicians (Shraddha Kapoor and Shashank Arora). Shujaat Saudagar steps into the shoes of Abhishek Kapoor, who directed the first movie, while Farhan Akhtar, Purab Kohli and Arjun Rampal reprise their roles. The movie is partly set in the North-East.
Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk Ben Fountain’s novel of the same name has inspired Ang Lee’s new film. Lynn (Joe Alwyn) survives a gruelling posting in Iraq, which ends in a victory tour that concludes as a football game on Thanksgiving Day. Also starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Tucker, Vin Diesel, Steven Martin and Garrett Hedlund, the movie’s highlight is the fact that it has been shot at a higher frame rate (120 frames per second) and in 4K HD resolution to give its sequences an immersive feel.
Desierto Made in 2015 and released in April 2016 in Mexico, this border drama is by Jonas Cuaron, the son of Alfonso Cuaron. It maps the arduous journey of Mexican immigrants who are trying to cross illegally into America, even as a vigilante pursues them. The movie stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Yeh Hai Lollipop Mel Brooks’s The Producers gets a partial Hindi version with a bizarre title. Manoj Joshi plays a Hindi film producer who puts together a project with the worst possible talent that he hopes will flop and save him from the income tax department. Also starring Om Puri, Sanjay Mishra, Chirag Thakkar and Shilpa Anand.
30 Minutes A young man who is tortured by demands of punctuality gets half an hour to sort out his life. Starring Riya Sen, Hiten Paintal and Hrishita Bhatt.
Dongri Ka Raja A tough-talking police officer who has the rough Dongri neighbourhood under his control falls in love. Starring Ronit Roy as a kohl-eyed gangster, Gashmeer Mahajani, and Reecha Sinha as the lovers.
