The news agency quoted an Army official, who said, "The Indian army has effectively retaliated using the same caliber weapons. The shelling and firing exchange is still on." Officials said the neighbouring country's Army targeted Indian positions in Salotri and Sagra.
At least eight civilians and eight Indian Army soldiers have lost their lives in cross-border in the past two weeks. On November 4, an Indian Army official said Pakistan had violated the ceasefire 99 times since India's surgical strikes on terror launch pads on the Pakistani side of the LoC on September 29.
Officials also reported breaches on October 3, 4 and 5 along the border in the region. On September 18, militants had attacked an Indian Army installation in Uri, killing 19 soldiers. India had accused Pakistan of being involved in the attack, but Islamabad had dismissed the allegations as “baseless”.
