A local court has sentenced Mumbai-based actor Aditya Pancholi to one year in prison for assaulting his neighbour, PTI reported on Sunday. Magistrate Amitabh Panchbhai later released the actor on a Rs 12,000 bail bond. Officials said Pancholi hit his neighbour, Pratik Pasrani and, and fractured his nose during an altercation in 2005.
Pancholi was booked for "assault and criminal intimidation" after the incident. He got into an argument with Pasrani over a parking slot after Pancholi's guest parked his car in the slot reserved for his neighbour. The incident took place in a residential complex, where Pancholi lives, in Mumbai's Versova suburb.
Police personnel revised the registration of the case from a non-cognizable one to a case of grievous hurt and criminal intimidation after it was confirmed that Pasrani's nose had been fractured in the fight. Pancholi's son Sooraj has been accused by deceased actor Jiah Khan's mother of driving her to commit suicide in 2013.
