"The national anthem must be played!" That should sound like a familiar refrain, except this time it wasn't in India but in Britain that the demand was being made.
British MP Andrew Rosindell has demanded that the country's national anthem, God Save The Queen (it changes to "King" when the monarch is a male) be played at the end of BBC1's programming every day.
The BBC, always with tongue firmly in cheek, obliged. At the end of Newsnight, on BBC2, the bars of God Save The Queen did waft over the closing credits. Just that this was the song by the Sex Pistols.
God save the queen
The fascist regime
They made you a moron
Potential H-bomb
Rosindell's response?
Imagine something like this ever happening in India. When the British left India, the one thing they didn't leave behind was a sense of humour.
