An Indian Army official on Friday said Pakistan had violated the ceasefire 99 times along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir since the surgical strikes on September 29, PTI reported. The official, who was not identified, said, “Pakistani troops have violated the ceasefire 99 times after the surgical strikes by Indian Army troops on terror launch pads in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.”

The official said Islamabad's troops committed 83 ceasefire violations in the area monitored by 16 Corps and another 16 in the area under 15 corps. According to the news agency, at least 18 people were killed in the cross-border firing, while over 83 others were wounded. The Jammu and Kashmir government ordered over 400 schools in the border region shut to avoid casualties caused by the violations.

The officials said the deadliest ceasefire violation claimed eight persons on November 1 in five sectors along the international border and Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. India has said that there has been an increase in ceasefire violations after it carried out surgical strikes on “terror launchpads”. Officials reported breaches on October 3, 4 and 5 along the border in the region. On September 18, militants had attacked an Indian Army installation in Uri, killing 19 soldiers. India had accused Pakistan of being involved in the attack, but Islamabad had dismissed the allegations as “baseless”.
