How many times have you come across a game where all the goals would easily make it to the "best goals" highlights reel? Not many. An encounter on Thursday evening at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul was one such game. Fenerbahce, the home team, needed to win against Manchester United to keep their hopes alive in the Europa League and they couldn't have asked for a better start. Striker Moussa Sow showed magnificent athleticism to execute an overhead kick to put his side in the lead.
If one has to beat a goalkeeper of David de Gea's class from a free-kick, it has to be a mighty good one. Few would have fancied Dutchman Jermaine Lens to lift one over the wall and beat United's No. 1. The execution was inch-perfect from the Dutch forward and De Gea didn't even move from his position.
United were outplayed by Dick Advocaat's side. With midfielder Paul Pogba limping off early in the game, the side lacked creativity and Juan Mata was having a rare off day. The time was running down on the clock but just when the clock ticked the 90th minute mark, United skipper Wayne Rooney put his recent barren run behind him with a beautiful strike from 25 yards out that left the keeper little chance. Such was ferocity with which it was struck.
