The Chicago Cubs created history in Ohio on Wednesday as they won the Major League Baseball's World Series, ending a title drought that went back to 1908. The Cubs beat Cleveland Indians 8-7 to win the coveted title in baseball, having last done so 108 years back when they defeated Detroit Tigers 4-1.
Aroldis Chapman almost threw away a three-run lead for the Cubs with two outs in the eighth inning but they came right back to win a long-awaited title in the 10th inning.
The title triumph also brought an end to the alleged "Billy Goat" curse which supposedly haunted the Cubs. After bar owner Billy Sianis and his pet goat were thrown out of a World Series game in 1945, Sianis had allegedly declared that the Cubs would never win anything. The Cubs lost the World Series in that year and did not play in the World Series for the next 71 years.
