According to The Quint, Goswami made the announcement at the channel’s Mumbai office and addressed its Delhi employees via videoconference. The report added that Tuesday’s episode of The Newshour will be Goswami’s last. The announcement was quickly followed by a frenzy on social media, with Arnab Goswami trending on Twitter.
TimesNow, which comes under the Times Group that also includes The Times of India, was launched with Goswami at the helm in 2006 and quickly became one of the most highly rated English news channels on air. Goswami's own show, the Newshour, tends to dominate the prime-time slot among 24x7 English news channels.
Goswami began his career with The Telegraph and later spent several years as an award-winning news anchor at NDTV, before leaving the channel to help launch TimesNow.
